Koldo Salinas Aragón (Irun, 1949). He started working with his father, José Salinas, at the bakery of the confectioner's shop Brasil. His concern about innovating the trade made him get in touch with the most important areas in confectionery: in 1982 he went to Calgary (Canada), to the famous City Bakery. From there he moved to Le Nôtre, in Paris, and, finally, to the López de Libourne confetioner's shop, in Bordeaux. His awards are the sign of his success: 1st Prize at the category of Truffle Tasting and 1st Prize at the category of Praline Tasting, within the Jean Marie Sibelaner National Prize (Vitoria, 1991); 1st Prize at the category of Marzipan Chocolates, 1st Prize at the category of Chocolate Specialties and 1st Prize at the Style category, within the Annency International Festival (France, 1993).

That same year he was named Honoris Causa knight by the French Chocolate Association. In 1994 he won the 1st Prize at the Armagnac Chocolate category and the 1st Prize at the Best Presentation category, within the Armagnac Chocolate Festival of Mont-de-Marsan (France). In 1995 he was awarded the Excellence Prize to the Best Foreign Chocolate Maker and 1st Prize for the Best Design at the 3rd International Chocolate Festival of Auxerre (France). In 1998, he won the Excellence Prize for the Best Chocolate Maker at the 6th International Chocolate Festival of Roanne. In 1996 he participated, in Lyon, in the first International Biennial of Arts de la Patisserie, which gathers the best pastrycooks in Europe.
